I see these posted elsewhere and I've decided to share in case anyone else might be watching the same shows.  *sighs*  I'm still missing Friday's BSG.

The only time whining is acceptable

Laura Kara Giggle
(non-BSG related, but can't seem to lj cut this)

I never thought I'd see the day when I would say, "I'm rooting for the Beauty Queens on the Amazing Race." (Wha..? But you think BQs are flotation devices...) That's Amazing Race ASIA of course (available on AXN in the Philippines). They're the only likable team that has a chance to win. And I'm pretty sure THESE BQ aren't floatable.

This year the ARA teams seem chosen so that not one team is grossly more athletic than the others (no all-male extreme sports team here like last year). In fact the three all-male teams all could use more gym time. Strangely there's only one couple "dating" among three co-eds teams (cousins & siblings); hopefully this couple will be WAY less dysfunctional than last year's squabbling marrieds.

I also expect more meltdowns from this cast: There's a self-proclaimed "Heiress" and her actress friend; there's Mai*, who claims her "parents brought her up as a Little Princess" and she CHOSE her partner because HE can carry her bag AND be strong, not like her, cuz y'know "I'm a girl"; there's one Fazzie (or was that A.D.) who argues that lazier people can complete the tasks faster; and finally there is an only son, 'who is the sole recipient of my entire family's affection'. SNERK!!! Let the WHINING begin!!!

*Mai and Oliver were first to finish yet still managed to have a blow up after receiving a cash prize: Oliver complained that he did all the work (possible true), so Mai got all defensive and potty-mouth at him ALL THE WHILE FANNING HERSELF! (oye suplada!)

non BSG TV squee!

Chuck Team unis
In many ways Chuck is the anti-BSG: non-stop belly laughs versus counter the ulcer-causing churning over Colonial angst. But it does have a lot in common with BSG: quality show, excellent writers, amazing cast and supporting cast, and even the same jerk network execs (vis-a-vis the WGA and iTunes pull-out).

In honor for the last two episodes written before the Writer's Strike being aired, here is the Chuck Sandwich Drinking Game:

1. A sip for every synonym of "awesome" that Capt. Awesome uses. Double up if he actually uses the word "awesome."
2. A drink if Ellie, a busy resident, finds the time to actually make a home-made meal.
3. A gulp every time John Casey emotes with one eyebrow, but a sip only for a grunt.
4. A sip for every time "fake girlfriend" is said.
5. A sip whenever Sarah creates a weapon from an everyday item.
6. A bottoms up should Morgan actually "work" at the Buy More.
7. A gulp if Chuck Bartowski introduces himself as "Charles Carmichael".
8. A gulp if Sarah threatens the Weinerlicious weeny manager.
9. A sip if the Nerd Herder is crashed/destroyed.
10. A bottoms up should a geek reference actually be to BSG.

Its been awhile!

So its been awhile. I'm here in my lonesome in San Diego for two months, yet all i can do is watch TV, besides cleaning house (and talking to bureaucrats and filing paperwork - which I am now mentally blocking)! I think being here in the States during September Premiere week is so much fun. You can watch all the shows and form your own opinions. If I was abroad, I'd be reading reviews first before committing to aquiring all the shows.

So far, after three or four episodes into the new season (and I think I actually managed to watched all new pilots!) I've formed the following opinion:

Monday nights:
Watched: Chuck, Heroes, Aliens in America, Samatha Who?, Journeyman, and even Dancing With the Stars. The last was only because I was curious why it was the most viewed show. Sorry, thought it was boring and cheesy and the dancing was awful (So You think You Can Dance was so much more enjoyable).
Heroes is the only returning shows i'm watching, and I must say, I wasn't a real fan last season. It's slightly better this season as it has less of Ali and Co., and more Hiro and Horn Rimmed Glasses Guy. The Twins are Annoying even more so than Claire (am I the only one in the fansites who doesn't think she's the best character - ugh!). Even I find Molly more mature and sensible! If I was abroad, I wouldn't bother...
Chuck has surprised me after the first not-so-great pilot. Its getting better with each new episode. Its pure camp but not cheesy! Its suprisingly fun!! (Good thing to, my angst quota is full from BSG spoilers and minisodes). I am hearting Casey! If I was abroad, the sypnosis wouldn't have gotten me hooked at all...
AiA has good writing, but will it last? I sure hope so... Samantha Who just started, but it had a good start.
Journeyman ..... ai! Yuck! Just explain it already, because I really don't care about any of these people. Not the wife, not the financee, not the brother, maybe the boss, and slightly less than the main guy. It's not fair that the show has no real competition against it so that I still watch it in the background..... What a waste!
