Late thought re ADFMS 413

Kara Thrace of South Park
Been under the weather.  Oh well, better late than never.

Live blogging (kinda)!  So it turns out I can type and watch.  (But spell?  Not so much.)

Previouslies.

  • Hey, Gaeta, where’s the pre-cap?
  • Eeeee, Cally --- Tory’s gonna be busted!  I can’t wait!
  • Pregnant Six!  Where were you last time?

Teasers.

  • Janitors are on strike!!!
  • Hallo, COTTLE!!!!
  • Caprica’s a creepy mommy.  She sounds a lot like Socrata.  (Saul being there kills any hope that Baltar might have been the father.)
  • Ishay’s giving them the evil eye.
  • Wow, Gaeta The Unhappy?
  • Lee Oops: “SHE’s dead”.  So I guess did Tigh tell.
  • 39,644.  Boo.

Hello Main Titles!

  • “We/Them”  Poor confused Tyrol.  Upgrade the FTLs ala cylonese.  But no discussion to jump back to Kobol or the 12C.
  • “Frak the Quorum.”
  • So if this is after the Webisodes, why didn’t Mr. Negativity talk to Adama then.
  • OOO Poor sick Nicky.  He is a cute baby.
  • Wha---at? But, but he looks like both of them!!!!  Who?  Who?  Please don’t let it be Gaius.  Or Figurski.
  • Laura, no!  Phew, but those pills could help someone else.  Love that wordless, I’m back!!!

Act 2

  • Oh.  I guess she’s not back yet.
  • Srsly? Gaeta thinks he can out bad-ass Kara?  (Even new Kara?)  Yay, Salty’s supporting Kara.
  • He’s sowing mutiny. Again?  At least UFG’s learned from his mistakes, so he’s planning it better.  (Yeah Helo, covering up the previous mutiny on the Demetrius is gonna bite you back.)
  • Oy another Quorum scene.  Laura, WRU?  The mice’s playing…  (I’d like another ship captain to go against the quorum, just saying … in this new political reality the Quorum really isn’t representative, but the captains are defacto governors.)

Act 3

  • Which ship makes the new toothbrushes.
  • Laura jogging… but the Prez’s still not back yet.
  • Why are they doing this in the corrider?  Let’s retire together and I’ll kiss you – the Fleet should work without us, except its FALLING APART! (Is it a side effect?  Or is her cancer gone as with her dying leader status?  Hmm.)
  • Oh well, Baltar’s depressed too – just more eloquent.  Anti-partheneon, anti-one god.  Nihilists!
  • That flag behind him looks like a centurion eye.
  • Chief!  Oh no not Baltar.  What? Hotdog?  NOOO!
  • Huh, with that look, I bet Gaeta ratted to Zarek even before this.
  • Hite Kan!  Wasn’t the sole mining ship called the Doru Mazu?
  • I’m sorry daybreak777, but Gaeta’s reached my tolerance (no matter how good he sings).
  • What’s that sanctimonious look for, Helo?  Grr. You gonna side against the Admiral too?  Encourage this anarchy?

Act 4

  • Nicky doesn’t even look like Hotdog.  Why why?
  • Zarek’s on the brig, that was quick, Athena.  Where are those janitors?
  • I bet he’s speaking to Gaeta.  Heh.  Of course Gaeta won’t see the consequences. He’s not that imaginative, look who keeps aligning with.  Dude, Zarek okay’d the Circle!
  • Oh my eyes!  I really did not to see that (the bald head, that is).  Her legs are fab, but Adama fails in the arm!porn!

 End Titles

  • Wait, where was Sam?
  • And Tory gets away with murder?????  If Cally knew the paternity, why bring Nicky to the airlock?

THOUGHTS:

I can’t believe it but I’m even more depressed than I was last episode.  Yes, I know the show’s dark… but man, a tiny break would be good?  For example, a hug for Kara?  I know I’d feel giddy if Tory got whacked by the Chief!  Even a sunny flashback would be cheery.  It is truly depressing when the comic relief is a sad drunk.  (BTW, since the Lecherous Preacher’s not quite back, so I will deem Clean* Apathetic Nihilist to be ‘still hot’ for yet another episode.)

The leadership vacuum is really acute.  Everyone’s unhinged.  Discipline is non-existent.  Normally I’d be behind Zarek’s speech on tyranny at the top, but really I can’t side with that opportunist.  The difference IS patriotism – love of your nation more than your own ambitions.  I want to celebrate representative democracy, but guess in this universe I’m just a right-wing fascist.

During Adama’s interrogation, all I kept thinking was that old Roslin would have Zarek begging to lick her glasses clean within seconds.  But if the Prez is AWOL much longer, I will blame her for the frak-up to come.

As to that frak-up to come, I think I called it: civil war within the RTF!  But the twist- I did not expect mutiny on Galactica.  Oh Felix you un-felicitous gimp -  haven’t you learned you always FAIL miserably when you go against Adama:  Remember President Baltar?  The Demitrius?  Remember NC?  Judicious you are not, especially on morpha.

But I was really depressed about Cally’s secret.  (I was hoping for the reveal about Tory’s secret.)  I can get that TPTB want to focus on Hera, but what a way to spit on a dead woman.  So will this last bit jar Tyrol’s loyalties, esp now that Tyrol’s taking D’anna spokesperson role (I guess she really did stay on the planet).  Do the Cylons really believe in citizenship?  Hah, dream on, no way would that win a referendum.  Where are Sam and Tory?  In the baseship or in the Fleet?

Overall, a meh episode for me.  Intellectually, I know that this is a set up episode and I am excited to see where will lead. BUT I really need some backstory regarding Ellen, Earth, and Kara:

  • An explanation on how those Five got to the Colonies.
  • A Kara-Sam scene.  Dude, they really need to talk.  Boo!
  • I need to see Roslin getting it together.  But I guess some nookie counts as “getting it together.”

Let’s see if I can get my head back together by next episode.
